At TAHMEF, we believe that mental health care is a fundamental human right. Our work is to ensure that every youth in Tanzania has access to stigma-free, affordable mental health services, regardless of their geographical or socio-economic status. AHADI MENTAL HEALTH
AHADI is Tanzania’s first digital mental health facility, offering stigma-free, accessible mental health support to youth across the country. With a focus on accessibility, AHADI connects individuals to mental health experts through the AHADI mobile app, SMS helpline (15061), and Hot Call (199). These digital tools are complemented by community outreach initiatives, ensuring that no one is left behind, regardless of location. In partnership with the Ministry of Health, AHADI is scaling its services across Tanzania.
TAHMEF ACADEMY
TAHMEF Academy is a premier digital learning platform designed to equip frontline healthcare providers and caregivers with essential skills to respond effectively to mental health matters. Through cutting-edge continuous medical education, the Academy bridges critical knowledge gaps, enabling first responders to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care. With a focus on empowering those at the forefront of mental health support for youth.
OUR REACH AND IMPACT
We have reached over 1.1 million youth with mental health awareness through online platforms, the AHADI mobile app, Hot-Call-199, SMS helpline-15061, and in-person outreach — proving the scalability and effectiveness of our approach.
We have equipped 104+ frontline responders with the skills needed to deliver comprehensive, stigma-free mental health care across our system.
We have resolved over 150,000 helpline cases, providing direct mental health support and interventions to youth in need.
Over 21,000 youth are actively using the AHADI platform to access mental health resources, self-help tools, and connect with trained responders.
More than 153,000 youth have engaged our Hot-Call-199 and SMS helpline-15061 services, demonstrating strong demand for accessible mental health support.
Measured using the WHO-5 Well-Being Index, 88.5% of youth using our services reported substantial improvements in mental health and overall well-being.
Measured using the CAMI Scale, we have seen an 81% reduction in mental health stigma among our users and communities, driven by culturally sensitive, community-led awareness efforts.
Measured using the PHQ-9, youth engaged with our services experienced a 76% reduction in depression symptoms.
Measured using the GAD-7, youth engaged with our services experienced a 77.8% reduction in anxiety symptoms.
